What’s new in Logic Pro for Mac

What’s new in Logic Pro for Mac 12.3

Beat Breaker enhancements Beat Breaker includes three new edit modes: Cutoff, Resonance, and Pan. Use Cutoff to apply lowpass or highpass filtering per slice, Resonance to add tonal character around the cutoff, and Pan to place each slice in the stereo field. A new Randomize button lets you generate random effect values for the current edit mode or for multiple modes at once, and set probability and amount settings for each mode independently. See Beat Breaker.

Granular sync in Alchemy and Sample Alchemy The granular synthesis modules in Alchemy and Sample Alchemy provide a new Sync mode that lets you adjust the formants of generated grains and add parallel grain streams to create even more sonic timbres and textures. You can also use granular sync in Alchemy for patches and loops from the Granular Alchemy sound pack. See Alchemy granular element controls and Sample Alchemy granular effect controls.

Flex enhancements The region controls for flex have been revised to provide greater flexibility for different workflows. The parameters for audio regions in the Region inspector now include a Flex checkbox, a Smart Tempo pop-up menu, and a File Tempo field. New options are also available in the Smart Tempo project settings. See Choose the Smart Tempo setting, Smart Tempo project settings, and Audio region parameters.

Logic Pro also features enhanced loop detection: when an imported audio file is detected as a loop, Logic sets the file tempo to a constant value, and places the file start on a downbeat.

Chord ID improvements Chord ID has improved performance for both single instruments and full mixes. If the cycle area is active when you drag a region to the Chord track to analyze its chords, only the chords in the part of the region under the cycle area are added to the Chord track. See Analyze the chords in audio or MIDI regions.
