Paint and erase with the Pixel Paint tool in Pixelmator Pro on Mac

Use the Pixel Paint tool to paint or erase using square, pixel-shaped blocks.

  1. In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select a layer in the Layers sidebar.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Choose Tools > Pixel Paint.

    • Click and hold the Paint Tools button, then choose Pixel Paint.

    By default the Pixel Paint tool is set to paint. If you want to use it as an eraser, select Eraser Mode in the Pixel Paint pane.

  3. To customize the Pixel Paint tool, adjust any of the following controls in the Pixel Paint pane:

    • Color: Click the color well, and choose a color.

    • Pixel Size: Drag the slider to adjust the size of the Pixel Paint tool block. Press and hold the Option key to extend the range of the Pixel Size slider beyond 500 pixels.

    • Blend mode: Click the Blend Mode pop-up menu next to Opacity, then choose a blend mode.

    • Opacity: Drag the slider to adjust the transparency of the Pixel Paint tool.

  4. Drag in the canvas to paint or erase.

    Tip: To quickly switch from painting to erasing, press and hold the Tilde key (~) while you drag in the canvas.
