This does a general tidy-up of the shade appearance.
Feedback from the current beta is that the shade appearance is too similar to the unshaded state - so doesn't help bring focus.
There were also some UI quirks - shades overlapping, missing etc.
When I started work on fixing the quirks, I added a reddish hue to the shade to help spot some of the issues... and it has grown on me, so I'm going to push it to see what others think.
The full-screen shade (behind search dialog, action dialog etc) is similarly tinited:
