Life Reel AI is a companion workflow for Memex users who already have years of photos before they start using Memex.
Problem
Memex is useful for capturing new memories, but a new user may already have a large historical photo library. Manually submitting old photos one by one is impractical, and uploading everything without context creates low-value records.
Proposed Workflow
User exports or points to an existing local album folder.
Life Reel AI scans timestamps, filenames, folders, and optional sidecar metadata.
User can exclude sensitive photos before any model call.
A multimodal model writes richer memory text for each approved photo.
Each analyzed/approved record is persisted locally.
Approved records are exported as a .memex package.
User imports the package through Memex Backup & Restore.
Integration Ideas
Document .memex import as a recommended historical backfill path.
Add an optional "Import historical photo memories" entry in Memex docs/settings.
Eventually support append-style import to avoid restore semantics for incremental packages.
Proposal: Backfill Old Photo Memories into Memex
