About Viewer for Reddit

Viewer for Reddit is a clean way to browse Reddit without ads or algorithms.

Sign in to start browsing →

How It Works

  • Sign in with your Reddit account.
  • See your feed, subs, multi-reddits, search, vote and event comment.
  • Press esc to close (useful when your boss walks by).
  • Works on desktop, tablet, and phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this any different than reddit.com?

Your feed shows in chronological order, without ads or engagement algorithms.

Why do I have to sign in?

Reddit has turned off unauthenticated access to their content APIs. Third-party apps (like this one) must ask you to sign in order to function at all. We cache what we can and optimize where possible, but a Reddit account is now mandatory. If you don't already have an account, please register.

Is my data safe?

Yes. We use Reddit's official OAuth2 flow, so your password never reaches our servers. We store temporary access tokens that expire and delete when you sign out. We don't sell your data.

About This Project

I'm Greg Rickaby, a software engineer. I built this in 2020 to learn TypeScript and wanted a simpler way to browse Reddit. It's now used by thousands of people. I use it daily and maintain it actively. This fully tested codebase is open source and built with Next.js and Mantine.
