Proposals to improve brass/woodwind score creation #2196

I'd like to make the Score Wizard better at setting up orchestral brass and woodwind sections like this:

So far I have a couple ideas:

Add a voice count selector like we have for keyboard instruments. For brass and woodwinds, this would automatically set up part combining and additional staves as needed for multiple instruments of the same type.

  • How should we label combined parts? My example above would be easy to implement, but I'm not sure it's the easiest to read.

Add a key selector for instruments like trumpet, trombone, and tuba. In other words, the Score Wizard would list only one "trumpet" type with an option for which key, rather than listing each keyed variant as a separate instrument. (This was previously proposed/attempted in #425.)

  • Trombone and tuba may be a special case here since the keyed variants are specifically intended for British brass band notation.
  • Should we also combine range variants like the various recorders? I'm thinking no since they play different musical roles, but I'm not a wind player myself, so I'd like to get input from people who actually know what they're talking about. :)

Any other suggestions, or feedback on the ideas so far?
