This project seeks to decode national policies, regulation and subsidies for agroforestry into machine-readable formats.
Preamble The source documents that are the foundation for this code is the manifestaion of agroforestry policy in practice, it is what guides actual real-world decisions amongst farmers and land-owners of whether to adopt agroforestry, or not.
Many policies like the European CAP have specific regulation and subsidies for agroforestry. Often actual policies are implemented through national- and/or regional legislation with adjoining documents. These documents describe in great detail what the individual institutions regard as agroforestry and which subsidies specific farming systems and practices are eligible for. This project aims to translate the documents into programmable code and data so that the policies can be used in digital tools and models. This is done by producing code in machine-readable formats based on the documents. Each country and regions have several documents that are relevant to decode. Policy regions contains a non-exhaustive list of documents with agroforestry related policies. Everyone can contribute to decoding documents to produce machine-readable code. Decoding documents describe how documents are decoded into machine readable code and how to contribute.
