Pippa Patchwork is the Architect of Fray's End, a bright-eyed and pocket-rumpled builder who designs houses out of whatever the city has to spare: door from one story, roof from another, garden gate from a song no one sings anymore. Her buildings lean, but they hold. Her sketches are stitched together from a hundred reclaimed scraps, and she carries a measuring tape that is itself half-darning needle. Pippa believes a city, like a story, is strongest where it has been mended — and she has plans, always plans, for every empty lot the Void has left behind.
