Kayla Cross (born 21 March 2005) is a Canadian tennis player. She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 168, achieved on 20 July 2026. Her career-high doubles ranking is No. 127, achieved on 2 February 2026.[2] Cross has won one WTA 125 doubles title as well as three singles and eleven doubles titles on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour.
Career
[edit]2022: Juniors, WTA Tour doubles debut
[edit]Partnering Victoria Mboko, Cross reached the finals of two junior Grand Slam tournaments in 2022, losing both doubles competitions at the Australian Open[3] and at Wimbledon.[4]
Having lost as a wildcard entrant in the first singles qualifying round,[5] she made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the WTA 1000 Canadian Open in doubles, once again partnering Victoria Mboko.[6]
2023–2024
[edit]Cross was runner-up at the 2024 Championnats de Granby, losing to Maria Mateas in the final.[7]
She won the biggest title of her career to date when she took the doubles crown at the W75 2024 Calgary Challenger alongside Maribella Zamarripa, defeating Robin Anderson and Dalayna Hewitt in a champions tiebreak in the final.[8][9] Partnering Liv Hovde, Cross reached the doubles final at the 2024 Fifth Third Charleston 125, losing to Nuria Brancaccio and Leyre Romero Gormaz.[10]
2025-2026: BJK Cup, WTA 1000 debuts and first wins
[edit]Cross made her debut for the Canada Billie Jean King Cup team against Romania in the 2025 qualifying round held in Tokyo, partnering Rebecca Marino in a win over Georgia Crăciun and Mara Gae.[11]
Teaming with Amelia Rajecki, she won her first WTA 125 doubles title at the 2025 Abierto Tampico, defeating Weronika Falkowska and Kristina Novak in the final.[12][13]
On her singles WTA Tour debut she was granted a wildcard for her home tournament, the WTA 1000 2026 Canadian Open where she recorded her maiden tour-level win and the first on the 1000-level over top 100 player Katie Boulter.[14]
