This Preparatory Action call, with a budget of around €1.6 million, will fund projects increasing the reach and impact of professional content produced by independent fact-checking organisations in the EU. Fact-checkers are key players of the information value chain, verifying and assessing the credibility of content based on facts and evidence and providing citizens with important context and information related to the information they encounter online and offline.
Each funded projects will design and deploy creative strategies and means to amplify fact-checked content’s reach to broader audiences, while documenting effective methods and insights. Projects should form collaborations and networks with stakeholders critical to content creation and distribution such as traditional and online media outlets, content creators, influencers and podcasters. These partnerships should also support the development of a framework to monitor and evaluate impact through metrics like audience reach, engagement, and feedback.
The projects will contribute to the EU’s overall objective to advance societal resilience and preparedness through increased media literacy, better situational awareness and response capabilities on the threat of disinformation.
This Preparatory Action call is distinct and complements the recent call for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme to strengthen the capacity of the fact-checking community across Europe.
