Juvenile in custody after armed prowler incident in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. (WNDU) - A juvenile is in custody after authorities say the suspect tried to break into a home, pointed a gun at deputies and later threatened them with knives in Cass County.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2 p.m. on Aug. 9 to a report of a masked, armed prowler near Dailey Road and Pine Lake Street in Jefferson Township.

A resident told deputies the suspect was trying to break into a home.

Deputies found and confronted the suspect, who allegedly raised a firearm and pointed it at them.

A deputy fired at the suspect, who dropped the firearm and ran away, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities say the juvenile then threatened deputies with knives before an assisting officer used a Taser. The suspect was taken into custody minutes later.

The juvenile was lodged in a juvenile facility. No one was hurt, and authorities say there is no danger to the public.
