We’re committed to transparency involving any spills along our lines or on partner vessels carrying Trans Mountain-transported product. Information about reported spills is available to the public.
While no spill is acceptable, when one occurs, we notify the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) and deploy our emergency response and spill management procedures. As a CER-regulated company, Trans Mountain must report spills greater than 1.5 cubic metres or any spill in a water body.
Trans Mountain has reported approximately 85 spills since the enactment of the CER in 1961.
The CER’s spill history records is available on their website. Find out more about pipeline emergency management in Canada. Find out more about regulations regarding marine spill cleanup in Canada.
