Executive/Legislative Division
The Executive/Legislative Division of the Secretary of State's office is responsible for filing and preserving all official acts of the Governor such as executive orders, pardons, paroles, extraditions, commutations, proclamations and appointments to boards and commissions. Additional documents filed include all acts and resolutions passed by the state legislature, initiative and referendum petitions, oaths of office and loyalty oaths. Tribal, interlocal cooperative, cross deputization agreements and compacts are also filed with this division.
Executive Filings
The Secretary of State is required by law to attest to the Governor's signature and file all official gubernatorial acts. Executive orders, appointments to state boards and commissions, executive proclamations, tribal compacts and agreements, pardons, paroles, extraditions and commutations are issued and signed by the Governor, then filed and distributed by the Secretary of State's office.
Legislative Filings
All acts and resolutions passed by the legislature are filed in the Secretary of State's office. The enrolled legislation is permanently preserved by the Secretary of State. Initiative and referendum petitions, along with signature pamphlets are also received by the Executive/Legislative Division. Appointments made by the Speaker of the House and the Senate President Pro Tempore to state boards, task forces, and commissions are also recorded in this office.
