Due to the Labor Day holiday, the September Parks and Rec meeting will be held Monday, September 14th at 4:30pm at Village Hall (111 E Michigan Ave).

Work completed last week

Cripps Fontaine mobilized one crew and completed most of the Willard Street storm improvements. During excavation, the existing watermain was found farther north than planned in design, requiring relocation of the north leaching basin and the 2 ft diameter structure to maintain proper standoff between these and the existing water main. These adjustments were reviewed with staff and moved to the north side of the sidewalk rather than the roadside ditch.

As they rebuild the road and reestablish the ditch, Cripps Fontaine will set the low point to drain toward the leaching basins on both sides of Willard Street, and on the north side across the sidewalk as necessary. Storm items have been backfilled and compacted, and they plan to continue ditch reestablishment today along Willard Street.

They also intend to clean out the existing leaching basins on Willard St with their vactruck to prepare for installation of the 6″ overflow pipe. While doing so, they will clean the leaching basin on Fairfield Drive near the additional ditching work.

Work planned for this week

Cripps Fontaine is coordinating with Rathco to place full traffic control on the remaining roadways. Their next planned task is the sanitary sewer work on Cedar Street, but they are waiting for Rathco’s signage before starting.

They will begin next week by continuing ditch reestablishment on Willard Street. If Rathco has not placed the appropriate traffic control by the time Willard is complete, Cripps Fontaine will shift to ditch work on Marcelletti Avenue and Davis Street before moving to Cedar Street.

Currently, they intend to start Elm Street’s water main after completing Cedar Street.

On Monday, August 24, the Paw Paw Village Council approved a contract with Jeremiah Jones to serve as the Village’s new Code Enforcement Officer. In order to remind all residents and property owners of Paw Paw as to their responsibility for maintaining properties to a minimum standard, below is the Village blight ordinance.
