Johnson was 1-for-12 with six strikeouts and two walks in his 14 plate appearances for the Reds this season. He was backing up at both second base and first base, so the Reds will likely need to make a transacation to add bench depth.

As a team, the Reds only mustered four hits in the contest with Bleday’s double off of Will Dion the only one that went extra bases. He also struck out twice in the contest. For the season, the 28-year-old outfielder is slashing .225/.339/.460 with 20 homers and 47 RBI in 373 plate appearances.

Singer walked one and struck out three batters on the afternoon. The Nationals scratched out a pair of runs against him in the second inning, then Abimelec Ortiz tagged him for a solo homer in the third inning. Singer generated 10 swings and misses on 103 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll carry a 4.66 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 100/40 K/BB ratio (119 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Marlins.

The 32-year-old outfielder had been with the Reds on a minor league deal that he signed in mid-June. Haggerty hit just .205/.293/.273 with one homer, five RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 99 plate appearances during his time at Triple-A Louisville. He’s now free to peddle his wares on the open market.

Suárez’ home run was his 16th of the year. He hit a two-run shot off Nationals reliever Max Koranic in the sixth inning. Suárez’ home run accounted for the entirety of the Reds’ scoring on Saturday. His .300 wOBA is on pace to be the worst of his career. Suárez is hitting .204 with a .688 OPS and 43 RBI.

Burns gave up six hits, walked three and struck out six. He fell to 13-2 with the loss. Burns cruised through the first two innings before running into trouble in the third inning. He allowed three hits, including a two-run single. In the sixth inning, Burns allowed three hits to start the inning and was pulled after walking Nasim Nunez to load the bases. Nunez was thrown out at home on an Andres Chaparo double after Burns left the game, which saved him an earned run. He has a 2.61 ERA. Burns is lined up to face the Marlins at home next weekend.

Petty returns to the minors after allowing three runs — two earned — over 1 2/3 innings during an abbreviated start against the Nationals on Friday night. The 23-year-old holds a serviceable 4.83 ERA across 31 2/3 innings for the Reds this season. His departure clears a roster spot for recent waiver wire acquisition Ron Marinaccio to join the club’s active roster.

He walked twice and got just enough lift off a Cade Cavalli four-seamer to go opposite field for his 20th homer of the season. The 24 year-old superstar is hitting .284/.399/.552 with seven homers and 11 stolen bases in his last 30 games. That’ll play.

Chase Petty? Don’t mind if we do. The Reds didn’t have a real bulk pitcher up for this game, so Daylen Lile’s three-run bomb sent them down a string of four pitchers who didn’t throw more than 40 pitches. Petty is, obviously, to be avoided in fantasy baseball outside of streaming hitters against him at this point.

The announcement comes after a meeting with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Thursday. The nature of the procedure won’t fully be known until it’s started, so the Reds are unable to give any specifics yet on how much time Greene will miss other than the remainder of the 2026 season. It’s a really tough break for the Reds and for fantasy managers who had held out hope that he’d be an impact contributor over the final two months of the season. He can be safely dropped in redraft leagues.
