Your Support Makes a Difference

Every gift empowers us to drive innovation and spark solutions that benefit our nation and the world.

Other Ways to Give

Other Ways to Give

  • Online gifts are the most immediate way to support the institution and/or program of your choice. To give online, you can use our secure online gift form and follow the instructions provided. You have the ability to make your gift as a one-time payment or as a convenient recurring gift. Recurring donations can be paused, adjusted, or canceled at any time and they are predominantly paperless. A cumulative tax receipt will be issued to you annually.

If you would like to pause, adjust, or cancel an active recurring gift, please email giving@nationalacademies.org.

  • Our printable donation form provides an easy way to mail your gift. Please print the donation form, fill it out, and send it to our secure offsite processing center at:

National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
    Office of Development
    P.O. Box 936138
    Atlanta, GA 31193-6135

  • Please call the Office of Development at 202-334-2431, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (except federal holidays). You will be asked to provide the information requested on the donation form.

  • Donating in honor or in memory of someone is a wonderful way to pay tribute to their life. Give in honor or memory through our online donation form.

  • Did you know that your gift may be eligible for matching dollars if a corporation or foundation with a matching gift program employs you or a family member? This is an easy way to double your donation. Please contact the administrator of your matching gift program to find out the steps you need to take in order to have your gift matched.

  • A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a mechanism that simplifies the administrative burden of fulfilling your philanthropic objectives. DAFs offer the favorable tax benefits of giving directly to charities with added flexibility around the timing of gifts. An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, DAFs are an excellent way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.

If you have a DAF with Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable, DAF Direct enables you to recommend grants to the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and/or National Academy of Medicine directly from your fund. Please visit the individual Academy pages to learn more about directing a grant from your DAF to one of the Academies. You can find this information at the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and National Academy of Medicine

All DAF grant recommendations should be mailed to our secure offsite processing center at:
National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
    Office of Development
    P.O. Box 936138
    Atlanta, GA 31193-6135

  • A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) can save you income taxes, as well as help minimize your taxable estate and fulfill your philanthropic wishes. The gift amount counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution and your taxable income is lowered by the amount of your QCD.

    Important points to consider:

    • You must be at least age 70½.

    • The gift should come directly from your IRA account in the form of a check.

    • The gift may come from a Traditional or a Roth IRA (special exclusions may apply to other types of IRA accounts).

    • Although there is no tax deduction, there is NO income tax on the withdrawal.

Please have your IRA plan administrator send a check to:

National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
    Office of Development
    P.O. Box 936138
    Atlanta, GA 31193-6135

Accompanying paperwork should identify (1) your name and address and (2) if your gift is intended for a specific program or for general unrestricted support.

  • A gift of long-term appreciated securities (more than 1 year) allows you to potentially avoid capital gains tax. When itemizing your deductions, you can deduct the fair market value of the stock. If you choose this option, please complete and submit one of our stock gift forms and contact Shawn Neil, Director of Advancement Services, at 202-334-3823 or sneil@nas.edu so that we can accurately initiate and credit your contribution.
