NEWS AND EVENTS
Reds & Guardians Families Recognized as ‘Child Advocates of the Year’ by Ohio CASA
At the 30th Annual Celebrate Kids! Conference in Columbus on September 25, Ohio CASA presented its highest honor, the Child Advocates of the Year Award, to the families of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians.
This award is given to a person or group that has gone above and beyond to support CASA programs and the children in need they serve. In addition to creating awareness for CASA and its programming, the two teams combined to raise $18,500, with $11,000 raised by the Reds families. Their support will provide aid to local CASA programs and get much-needed volunteers.
The Reds families, led by Jordyn Pagán, were recognized through a video featuring Molly Lux, Autumn Littell, Erin Suter, Ellie Anderson and Brooklyn Barnett.
Austin Hays Presents $20,000 Scholarship
Outfielder Austin Hays, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Reds and Bold.org, brought back the Austin Hays “All Your Heart” Scholarship, which awarded Ohio student Gloire Mujanama $20,000 to further his education.
As part of a September 24 pregame ceremony, Mujanama received the scholarship check, presented by Hays and his wife Samantha.
Reds Host “Peanut Butter Jam” Food Drive
The Reds and Hope Emergency Program teamed up for the first-ever “Peanut Butter Jam” food drive. For the Reds vs. Cubs game on September 21, fans had the opportunity to donate a 16-oz plastic jar of peanut butter and receive a View Level ticket to one of the Reds vs. Pirates games during the season’s final homestand. The inaugural initiative saw fans donate over 600 jars of peanut butter.
Peanut butter is one of the most requested items at many food pantries because it is a shelf-stable, protein-rich food that has a variety of uses and is popular with people of all ages.

Reds Raise Awareness for Childhood Cancer
In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and this year’s MLB’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on September 7, pregame ceremonies focused on raising awareness for this important cause.
With players and coaches from both the Reds and Mets lining the baselines, six kids either cancer-free or in remission ran the bases, receiving high-fives from the MLB personnel.
Pregame festivities also featured representatives from Cincinnati Children's Hospital, CancerFree Kids and the Dragonfly Foundation, with an 11-year-old cancer survivor throwing out a first pitch.
On September 2, catcher Will Banfield and pitcher Zach Maxwell visited Seacrest Studios at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The Reds players had the opportunity to meet patients, take photos and sign autographs.
