Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition
Non-profit Organizations
The future of science and technology in Ireland.
About us
The Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is Ireland's biggest celebration of scientific curiosity and innovation. What began in 1965 as a modest initiative to spark interest in science among Irish secondary students has evolved into one of the world's leading youth science competitions. Each January, over 550 projects from students across Ireland showcase projects spanning from quantum computing and AI, to biotech and climate solutions. Alumni have gone on to establish groundbreaking companies, lead major research institutions, and drive technological progress worldwide. Join us in celebrating the scientists and technologists who will shape Ireland's future on 5-9 January 2027 at the RDS in Dublin.

It is with profound sadness that we learned of the tragic passing of Alex McKee, a talented young innovator, student, and valued member of our Young Scientist community. Earlier this year, Alex, alongside his teammates Mikayla Ryan and Reece Morey of Terence MacSwiney Community College, won their category and the Ombudsman for Children's Office Award at the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition for their project, Bumblebee. Inspired by a desire to support children with non-verbal autism, their innovative communication board demonstrated not only technical excellence but also empathy, inclusion, and a determination to improve the lives of others. Alex embodied the curiosity, initiative, and leadership that define so many of the young people who participate in our exhibition each year. While his achievements were remarkable, those who met him spoke most highly of his character, kindness, and bright future. On behalf of the Board of the Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, we extend our deepest sympathies to Alex's family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who knew and loved him. We also hold Mikayla and Reece in our thoughts as they mourn the loss of a friend and teammate whose contribution to their shared success will never be forgotten. Alex's legacy will continue to inspire future generations of young scientists and innovators to use their talents in service of others. His impact, though achieved in far too short a time, will endure through the lives he touched and the example he set. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. #YoungScientist #YSTE #STEM #Innovation #YoungInnovators #AlexMcKee #ScienceForGood #Community x

Over the past few months, while completing my Leaving Certificate I took my nanoinformatics research from Limerick to San Francisco. My research uses computational methods to design nanoparticles that deliver paclitaxel to glioblastoma tumours. During that time, I had the opportunity to: - Travel to San Francisco, where I visited the Arc Institute, Stanford d.school and Stripe - Present my research at Stripe Sessions - Visit Immersive Software Engineering at the University of Limerick - Visit Croom Medical - Present at Smurfit Westrock Thank you to everyone who welcomed me, listened to the research and helped me think more deeply about where it could go next. I believe young people should not feel that they have to wait before pursuing difficult questions or contributing to meaningful research. I’m looking forward to continuing this work and sharing what comes next. #Nanoinformatics #Glioblastoma #Nanomedicine #stripesessions2026
