From choosing the name ‘euro’ in 1995 to the biggest cash changeover in history in 2002, the euro has become far more than just a currency. 💶 Today, over 300 million people use it daily, with more than 30 billion banknotes and 153 billion coins in circulation by September 2025, all protected by advanced security features like holograms, watermarks and special metal compositions. Beyond making travel, studying and business across Europe simpler, the euro remains one of the strongest symbols of a connected and united Europe. Want to know more?
