MIBR through to IEM Sydney semi-finals over mousesports

MIBR are through to the semi-finals at IEM Sydney after a double-overtime battle on the opening map against MOUZ, securing a 2-0 victory in the quarter-finals (Mirage 22-19, Overpass 16-10).

The first quarter-final of IEM Sydney began on Mirage, a map that MOUZ chose after taking down BOOT-d[S] and BIG on it with 16-2 scorelines earlier in the tournament. This time, it wasn't going to be a cruise for them, as MIBR took control early on, leading 8-2 on the CT side after only letting through a couple of A executes, one in the pistol and one in the first full gunround.

coldzera and fer led MIBR to the semi-finals, where they will take on Liquid

The European side stabilized towards the end of the half, with more well-placed strategies on A and a 3v5 turnaround helping them secure three out of the last five rounds. This time on the defense, MOUZ conceded the pistol round, but doubles from Finn "karrigan" Andersen and Chris "chrisJ" de Jong in the following forcebuy set their team up for a great run that saw them string together eight rounds in a row.

As the opening map went into the late stages, it got closer and closer, with Marcelo "coldzera" David's massive 1v3 clutch and another triple in the 28th round setting the score at 14-14. The two sides began to go back and forth round by round as it went to overtime, and despite another big clutch, this time a 1v3 from Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, MIBR could not finish it off in the first set. In the second, the teams continued to go blow for blow in the first half, but with two 1v1 clutches by Fernando "fer" Alvarenga and coldzera, the Brazilians put the final nails in the coffin to come out on top at 22-19.

mousesports are out in 5th-6th place

Overpass followed, with MOUZ once again winning the pistol round but not being able to capitalize, while MIBR racked up another early advantage. coldzera continued to put in a huge effort with two more clutches to his name including an ace, leading his team to 9-3 on the offense.

Switching up the pace with some aggression towards connector and fountain, MOUZ put two more rounds on the board on the back of triples from David "frozen" Čerňanský, whose confidence seemed to ramp up as he reached the second half. There, the Slovakian put up a double in the pistol and gave his team their first clutch in the series, a 1v2 to close the gap to 9-10.

However, a halfbuy win, in which coldzera found a way to three kills with a Deagle, saw MIBR pull away to reach 14 rounds and soon the series at 16-10, when the superstar won another deciding duel against chrisJ in the last round.

Finally a non-toxic brazillian in this comment section, all i see are brazillian asking mouz to disband after the official second tourament for mouz new lineup, gotta agree with u 90% of hltv community are real toxic, just like when ence reach the final of the major, everyone be like ence is the upcoming top 1 team, and when ence did badly for the next event (forgot the event they attended after the major) they be like plz disband this team, feelsbad for both mouz and ence fans and those team that competed with their new lineup

Yes, exactly. Brazilians behave like this in Mibr matches, MM servers and even in soccer matches. Pure toxicity for absolutely no reason.

Ropz underperformed and still they were close to winning both maps. Just lost some crucial rounds and got money f*cked and then they had to eco. Could have been 2-0 in mouz's favor if ropz won some clutches against cold and the one underpalace against taco. If u understood how cs works u wouldn't say mouz sucked. It was just that coldzera and fer were too good. So don't be salty. Prettu sure mouz > all australian teams.

Gosh guys this line up is still pretty young. Give them time to orientate and get known to each others playstyles. Karrigan will shape them into a good team and the org of mouz gave him the time to do so, there won't be roster changes soon. Either way MiBR will get destroyed by Liquid.

That team has just been builded from two unexperienced players they just need more time more team play more strikes against those mibr outdated tactics. Aye, n0thing is a good player, and he did a great job filling in for mouz back at that tournament. SK, on the other hand, had their first "big" event with a NA guy, speaking a different language, in front of their home crowd. That loss wasn't skill-wise at all. And yeah, this Brazilian roster had always beaten mousesports, except for ESL BH and maybe some other minor encounters.

I think I heard about it somewhere, but I also saw that people overreacted to it, as it wasn't actually his intention to be racist on felps. But I'll search for it l8er.

What is up with ropz in the important games ? It seems that he kept his curse from the previous lineup.. Good run overall by mouz, I'm surprised.

It was a tough game my dude, and they're still a very young roster. Give them some months, even weeks, and they will bang EU up with ease.

True, the fact that they are showing this much promise at such an early stage is a very positive sign. GGs to mibr.
