WESG World Finals Day 3 recap

The third day in China is over which means we take a look at all the matches from today's playoff action.

WESG 2016 World Finals moved on to the playoffs where four knockout games took place to determine the last four quarter-finalists.

TYLOO faced Signature in a best-of-three series and won their map pick Mirage 16-11. Signature's pick Overpass was the scene of a massacre as the Chinese won it 16-4. HaoWen "somebody" Xu topped the charts with a 43:23 score and a 1.40 rating in the series.

Snax had a good day

The Kazakhstanis of K23 was not a match for Virtus.pro who took the series 2-0 and advanced to the quarter-finals. Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski was deadly and averaged a 1.55 rating.

The trend of 2-0 results continued as Epsilon defeated the home team VG.CyberZen. Four players from Epsilon averaged ratings more than 1.25, putting on a marvelous team performance.

Space Soldiers became the last quarter-finalists after beating Selfless 2-0. Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş was his usual self, posting a 108.6 ADR and a 1.45 rating.

Below are all the results from the knockout round. You can reach the stats by clicking on the scores.

China TYLOO 2-0 Thailand Signature
Poland Virtus.pro 2-0 Kazakhstan K23
China VG.CyberZen 0-2 Sweden Epsilon
Turkey Space Soldiers   2-0   United States Selfless

Envy came up against TYLOO in the quarter-finals and after the teams split the first two maps, Dust2 was the decider map. Despite being down towards the latter stages of the map, Envy kept TYLOO off of match point and won the map 16-14. Kenny "kennyS" Schrub's 28:14 score and 1.54 rating on Dust2 was the deciding factor.

XANTARES & co. became Envy' semi-final opponents after the Turks beat iGame.com 2-1 in the quarter-finals. The last map in the series was Nuke and Space Soldiers took advantage of starting on the CT-side by winning the half 14-1. They closed out the match with ease, winning 16-1.

XANTARES was impressive as usual

Although the other Turkish team DarkPassage pushed Virtus.pro to the edge, the Poles were victorious. Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas & company won Nuke 22-18 in overtime and came back from an early 2-10 deficit on Cobblestone to win it 16-11.

Kinguin were the more adamant side in the last quarter-final between them and Epsilon. The Polish team won the series 2-1 despite losing the first map Cache in overtime. Mikołaj "mouz" Karolewski's team will play their Polish brethren from Virtus.pro in the semi-finals.

The results of all the quarter-finals are below:

France Envy 2-1  China TYLOO

Would like to see SS beat Envy and think they have a decent chance if they can contain KennyS a bit. VP will walk away over Kinguin imo, too much pressure on the younger team and experience of VP will shine through. XANTARES once again proving all his doubters wrong by being a dominant beast on LAN. Time for a Turkish supertanker to form: XANTARES Paz Calyx Woxic Despe/maj3r (depends if they need maj3r to igl)

Good, the rigged group system failed and none of the Chinese teams made it into top4. VG didn't even make it into top8. Very nice
