    Overview

    1. Getty Publications brings the world of art, photography, archaeology, architecture, conservation, and cultural heritage to life through our award-winning publications. Our books are inspired by and complement the groundbreaking work of the Getty Museum, Conservation and Research Institutes. Whether you’re a curious reader or a dedicated scholar, our expertly crafted publications offer something for everyone, illuminating the past and shaping the future of cultural knowledge.

      Getty Publications is a member of the Association of University Presses.

    Our Values

    1. We take our commitment to accessibility seriously. Getty Publications is currently working to make our digital products as accessible as possible, following the standards set forth in W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, including W3C’s EPUB 1.1 Conformance and Discoverability Requirements.

      New books and journals originally announced to publish March 2025 and beyond will conform to these guidelines upon initial release. We are also working to address accessibility issues in our backlist digital products.

    2. As a reflection of our commitment to quality, integrity, and diversity, Getty Publications endeavors to solicit feedback from external reviewers on every manuscript we publish. Peer reviewers are provided with guidelines that probe questions concerning the content.

      We ask all parties involved in peer review, including publishing staff, readers, and authors, to approach their work with care, following the recommendations of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers and the Association of University Press’s Best Practices for Peer Review.

    3. Getty Publications is committed to implementing and expanding on environmentally sustainable practices. We aim to use materials that have been manufactured and produced responsibly and with minimal impact to the environment. All suppliers are required to comply with recognized environmental and social accreditation standards, and we use only FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)–certified paper. Furthermore, we are working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation by selecting materials near manufacturing locations and prioritizing shipping via ocean freight over air freight whenever possible.
