Beneficiaries of these services are Libyan citizens living in the United States permanently or temporarily. The following services are available through the Libyan Embassy:

Marriage - Registration of Marriage

Send the following documents to the Libyan Embassy to register a Marriage:

Completed application form
Copies of the husband's and wife's passports
Original U.S. marriage contract ( With a legally translated copy in Arabic by a licensed translator in the U.S )
A prepaid envelope with the tracking number to return the documents to the desired address
Regarding the marriage of a Libyan to a non-Libyan, approval from the Ministry of Social Affairs is required. In the absence of such approval and upon meeting all necessary terms and conditions, the marriage contract will be ratified.
A copy of a US Driving Licence or Identification Card

Birth - Birth Registration

Send the following documents to the Libyan Embassy to register a birth:

Original U.S. birth certificate. (With a legally translated copy in Arabic by a licensed translator in the U.S)
Completed birth registration, Form 1.
Completed birth certificate issuance, Form 2 .
Completed birth notification, Form 32.
Completed registration form for Libyans residing abroad.
Family book or original marriage contract.
Copies of father and mother’s passports.
A prepaid envelope with the tracking number to return the documents to the desired address
In case of a marriage with a foreigner, the birth registration will not be documented and certified by the consulate section until all pertaining marriage regulations are settled in accordance with the law.

Divorce

Send the following documents to the Libyan Embassy to register a divorce:

Completed copy of Form 9
An original certified copy of the court ruling. (With a legally translated copy in Arabic by a licensed translator in the U.S)
A copy of the husband’s and wife’s passport
Include a prepaid envelope with the tracking number to return the documents.
A copy of a US Driving Licence or Identification Card

Death - Death Registration

Send the following documents to the Libyan Embassy to register a death:

Completed application form
Original passport of the deceased person
Original U.S. death certificate (With a legally translated copy in Arabic by a licensed translator in the U.S)
Include a prepaid envelope with tracking number to return documents to the desired address.
A copy of a US Driving Licence or Identification Card
