Grades 6-8

  • Due to the complex nature of middle school scheduling, involving multiple teachers, differentiated core classes, and unique electives, the CSDVA may not have all of the courses and opportunities that are available in the comprehensive school.  Students will have teacher support for each class, however, all teachers and students participating will be fully virtual.

  • Teachers will have Virtual Academy Students built into their schedule.  The goal is not to have both “Roomers and Zoomers” in any given class period, but have CSDVA classes scheduled separately from the comprehensive school classrooms to maximize the learning approaches best suited for the learning experience.

  • Students will be held to the same academic standards as their grade level peers, and will follow the same academic calendar and district policies, including the Student Code of Conduct.

  • Students may participate in Extracurricular activities at their CSDVA assigned school.

Grades 9-12

  • Due to the complex nature of high school scheduling, involving multiple teachers, differentiated core classes, and unique electives, the CSDVA may not have all of the courses and opportunities that are available in the comprehensive school, but the program will have a variety of options to ensure that graduation requirements can be met.  Students will have teacher support for each class, however, all teachers and students participating will be fully virtual.

  • Teachers will have Virtual Academy Students on their schedule. The goal is not to have both ‘Roomers and Zoomers’ in any given class period, but have CSDVA classes scheduled separately from the comprehensive school classrooms to maximize the learning approaches best suited for the virtual learning environment. Students will use their class time for support, help and guidance from their teacher as they make progress toward their daily/weekly goals.  Students will be working independently, with teacher support in each class/course.

  • Students will take four courses each semester with flexible pacing that allows them to accelerate on material they excel in, while taking extra time for material they may be struggling with.  The goal will be for all students to earn a minimum of 8 credits per school year.

  •  Course curriculum will be offered on a college preparatory level using district approved curriculum which follows the State of Delaware content standards.
  •  Students will be held to the same academic standards as their grade level peers, and will follow the same academic calendar and district policies, including the Student Code of Conduct.

  • Emphasis will be placed on course completion and progress towards graduation as the main indicators of success.  Students will not be permitted to “skip” assignments, and must meet the minimum passing grade for each assignment based on the Christina School District Grading Scale. Students will also have a personalized learning plan to show progress for each course.

  • Students may participate in Extracurricular activities at their CSDVA assigned home school (Christiana, Glasgow, or Newark high school)
