The License to Maim is a promotional cosmetic item for all classes. It is the Freelance Police badge used by Sam and Max from the Sam & Max franchise; a gold badge with the words "Sam & Max Freelance Police" and a number one engraved upon it. A blue star with the scales of justice on it also appears centered on the badge.
This item is awarded to players who earn the Poker Night at the Inventory achievement Special Item: Max by defeating Max during a round in which he has bought in with the item instead of cash. As of May 23, 2019, the original game has been removed from sale. However, any owners may still obtain its promotional items. The Reissued variant is awarded to players who earn the Special Item: Max achievement in the 2026 remaster of Poker Night at the Inventory and is identical to the original item. Previous owners can also obtain the Reissued variant.
