Cannot rename group chat if name contains / #11074

Bug Report

Problem

In a private group chat that I created, assigned a name and act as an admin, I am unable to successfully change the name.

Expected behavior

comment: # Group chat name is able to be changed

Actual behavior

comment: # Group chat name is not able to be changed

Notes

For the developer who will be investigating. Is it related to another PR? Tips on where to start?

Acceptance Criteria

Rules for the future PR to be accepted.

Reproduction

  • Open Status
  • Navigate to group chat
  • Tap ... in top right of screen
  • Tap 'Group Info'
  • Tap edit icon top right of screen
  • Enter new name
  • Unable to press 'Done' and add new name

Additional Information

  • Status version: 1.5.0
    comment:
  • Operating System: Android / LineageOS (issue seems to persist on other device in same group chat also running Android)

thank you for reporting!
I can't reproduce this issue on my Android10 when I create new group chat on 1.5 or create group chat on 1.4.1 and upgrade to 1.5 - in both cases I can rename chat successfully as admin.

Several questions that can be important to reproduce the issue:

  1. on what version of Status did you create a group chat?
  2. how many members are in group chat?
  3. what is current name of group chat?
  4. what Android version are you using now?
  5. did you send some specific messages to group chat (i.e. images, audio, stickers)?

  1. I think it was 1.4, as soon as group chats were released
  2. 3 people
  3. name is "//"
  4. Android 8.1 / Lineage OS 15.1 - the inability to change the name was also present on another person in the chat whose device is running Android 9
  5. Just one image was sent before noticing this.

the reason is in name of group chat.
