Nigeria: Influential Northerners Persuaded Me to Accept Wikki Tourists Job - Abdallah

The Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists, Coach Usman Abdallah has disclosed that he was literally 'pressurised' by influential people in the north to accept to coach the 'Bauchi elephants' after he parted ways with Enyimba FC.

Towards the end of the first round of the now suspended Nigeria Professional Football League, the Franco-Nigerian coach left the 'Peoples elephants' after irreconcilable differences.

Speaking to Daily Trust, the Kano State born football tactician said if he was not convinced by highly placed people in the north, he was heading back to Europe for a refresher course.

According to him, he needed quality rest after enduring three tortuous years in Enyimba football club.

He said "After parting ways with Enyimba, I wanted to go back to Europe. I had even purchased my ticket. I wanted to go and rest.

"90 percent of my time out of the three years I have been in Nigeria were spent in Enyimba. So it was time to go back home and stay my family and upgrade myself.

"In Europe we upgrade our certificates. Football is always changing including the laws of the game. Definitely tactical view of football has to change so you also have to catch up. I am now armed with my experience in Nigerian football so I know what to focus on.

"However, before I could pack my bags, Wikki Tourists came with their position on the table and were desperate to go up again.

"I initially turned down the offer but with a lot of persuasion, I ended up accepting their offer. They went through channels I couldn't ignore. There are some people you can't say no when they talk to you," he explained.

The former technical adviser of Enyimba also said he has no reason to regret his decision to join Wikki Tourists because he is now enjoying what he was denied in his former club.

He said in Wikki Tourists, he is given the much need free hand to handle the technical department of the club.

"I have no regret. I have seen many things that I haven't seen before now. I am working with a lot of fantastic players I never knew existed in the league.

"More importantly, I have the enabling environment to operate so I have no single regret that I joined Wikki Tourists," said Abdallah.
