Botswana: Pastor Calls for Religious Unity

Maun — Unity and cooperation among religious-based organisations are some of the key elements that can help churches to remain resolute in their mandate, Bishop Denis Mbakile of St Faith Holy Church has said.

Bishop Mbakile, of the church's Francistown branch, said churches were doing the same assignment of preaching the gospel and bringing society to the Lord.

He commended the Maun circuit for having established rapport with other denominations saying it was a step in the right direction.

Bishop Mbakile said the Christian journey was not easy as there were always obstacles along the way and encouraged Christians to be firm and not allow any forces to disturb their unity and cooperation.

He thanked Archbishop Bapati Wright of Rara Apostolic Church who was guest speaker at the St Faith Holy Church thanksgiving event for gracing the occasion and sharing words of wisdom which brought hope and built the congregation.

Earlier, Archbishop Wright had urged Christians not to be shaken but to stand firm in faith.

He noted that some people were dragging their feet to attend church because of some unacceptable acts displayed by some children of God.

Calling on Christians to introspect and see if they were on the right track, Archbishop Wright also advised them to lead by example. He also advised them to serve the Lord wholeheartedly and take part in church activities.

Outlining the objectives of the event, Ms Kgomotso Chivanga explained that it was meant to give thanks to the Lord for the church's achievements.

She said they experienced some challenges but conquered through prayers, teamwork and cooperation.

Saying St Faith Holy Church was not known in Maun, Ms Chivanga said they managed to make it visible by forging relationships with other churches such as Rara Apostolic Church.

The event had attracted St Faith Holy members from Francistown, Palapye, Serowe and other denominations from around Maun.
