Kenya: Commission for Clergy and Religious Holds Workshop to Promote Collaboration

Mombasa — The commission for Clergy and Religious of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) has held a workshop to promote mutual collaboration between different organs of the Church.

The workshop held October 22 to 25 in Mombasa was attended by close to 60 participants from 20 dioceses in the country.

Speaking to CISA on October 26, Sr Tecla Sambu the national Executive Secretary for the Clergy and Religious Commission said that the program aimed at "Promoting mutual collaboration between the congregations and dioceses, clergy and religious for the good of the evangelization work."

The workshop also comprised of brainstorming sessions with an objective of generating ideas which will be put down and shared in an organized manner to stakeholders of the Church.

"We were evaluating the workshops we had between March and May this year so as to develop future plans for the ongoing formation based on the results of valuation," Sr Tecla said.

She appreciated the opportunity for ongoing formation and renewal process of the clergy considering that the clergy and religious are very busy in their apostolate.

"Those who benefited appreciate and desire that it can be done in a continuous basis and an organized manner so that it can reach a bigger number of clergy and religious," she said.

The three day workshop was officially opened on Monday, October 22 by the Chairperson of the Commission of Clergy and religious Bishop David Kamau, the Auxiliary Bishop of Nairobi in the presence of Bishop Salesius Mugambi of Meru.
