Please fill out one form for each student attending A2 STEAM in the 2019-20 school year if you have input you'd like the school to take into consideration for class placement decisions. As a reminder, we do NOT accept requests for, or exemptions from, specific teachers.

What makes PBL ultimately successful is the support that sustains it. As we continue to develop and support our collaborative culture of PBL at A2 STEAM, we ask that families engage in thoughtful reflection as well. What have you noticed about your child’s PBL work? How were you engaged throughout the process? How were you engaged during our expositions? In what ways has PBL shaped your child as a thinker, maker, and collaborator?
In the new year, we will be embarking on the task of collecting testimonials. These narratives will help to sustain our instructional model by supporting our teachers, praising our students, and telegraphing our uniqueness to the world. Mcity is a 32-acre mock city and proving ground built for the testing of wirelessly connected and driver-less cars. It is located on the U of M North Campus. The A2 STEAM community has been given exclusive access to this site for our first-ever Safe Routes to School Bike and Pedestrian Training Program. Mcity is NOT normally open to the public. Take advantage of this one-time opportunity to see Mcity!

With more than 16 acres of roads and traffic infrastructure, this is a GREAT location for our inaugural Bike and Pedestrian Training Program! Participants will be given PASSPORTS to be stamped when they complete each training module. We want to be sure we are prepared for all participants! Please RSVP here.

Spring Cross Country Kids is set to begin on Thursday, April 18th! Please register via this link. If you have more than one participant, please fill out separate forms for each. Registration will be open through April 25th.

Who: Open to any K-5 A2 STEAM student – boys and girls
When: Thursdays immediately after school until 4:30 PM
Cost: $25 recommended registration to cover program costs, please let us know if you need financial support - but we have many opportunities for volunteering that need to be filled!

Want to sing, play ukulele and learn hand chimes? Join the Northside Youth Chorale (NYC) Six Wednesdays 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., Februrary 6th - March 13th. *Performance Sunday, March 17th 10:00 a.m. Northside Community Church, 929 Barton Dr., Ann Arbor, 48105. The STEAM Girl Scout Junior Troop is hosting a Spice Drive for the Catholic Social Services Food Pantry run out of the Northside Community Center (right behind the school playground). Help us make sure our community has something nutritious and delicious to eat by donating spices to the drive by Friday, May 3. Dollar Tree and Aldi's have budget-friendly spice options to consider!

April 16 @ Pioneer's Annex
The Ann Arbor Public Schools will provide a school safety update for parents and guardians on Tuesday, April 16, 6:30-8pm in Pioneer High School's Annex. This meeting will include a description of the ALICE intruder protocol that our staff is trained in well as an update on the school safety assessment and the upcoming visitor management system. An officer from the Ann Arbor Police Department will be joining the meeting as well. We hope you can make this session on Tuesday, April 16, 6:30 at Pioneer's Annex to learn more about our commitment to student and school safety. The Annex is located off the main Stadium Bvld. entrance or via the doors off the main parking lot.

Download Durham Transportation's free app to monitor your student's bus. See real-time bus locations so you know when your student's bus is due at their bus stop in the morning and afternoon. This is especially helpful on bad weather days. The app is a safe, secure way to track your student's bus.
