Zimbabwe: Star FM Music Awards Promise Glitz, Glamour

Organisers of the inaugural Star FM Music Awards have promised that the awards will have its share of glitz and glam like the norm globally, apart from honouring local musicians. The event which will be held on January 25, next year at Zimbali Gardens, will have 21 categories.

Some of the categories include Best African pop song, sungura, group song, Zimdancehall song, hip-hop, male/female artiste and Song of the Year among others. The event is proudly sponsored by Jan-Jam Men's Wear, Impala Car Rental and Club Sankayi.

Speaking at the official launch recently, Star FM general manager Comfort Mbofana said they are ready to go with preparations in full swing.

"As you can see we, have set aside a dedicated team to run the show and we are promising fireworks. Just as the norm the event will have its share of glitz and glam as we have engaged fashion experts and award specialists to run this inaugural edition.

"The awards seek to honour our Zimbabwean musicians and legends and give value to our corporate partners through the most glamorous event that is uniquely Zimbabwean, which attracts the biggest social influencers and our own radio personalities," he said.

Mbofana said they will set standards in award shows and demonstrate that this vision and brand is one that is self-sustaining, through local talent, using local resources, while offering a world class event that will evolve each year.

Meanwhile, the awards organisers have released a promo video for the event which also includes how musicians can submit their entries. Deadline for entries is December 9 with adjudication to be completed on January 5.
