Sudan Participates in IMF Annual Meetings

Khartoum — Sudan has participated in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank on the island of Bali, Indonesia, during October8-15 with the delegation led by the State Minister at Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Mussalam Ahmed Al-Amir. Dr. Mussalam explained, in statement Monday from Bali, that the delegation of Sudan participated in the meetings of the First African Group of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the preparatory meeting of the African bloc, adding that the delegation also participated in the meetings of the Arab and the Middle East Group, headed by the IMF Director General Christine Lagarde and the President of the World Bank Jim Kim, separately. He pointed out that the meetings focused on the joint action and the augment of technical and financial assistance from the international financial institutions to the member states, urged the latter to give priority to the economic reforms to remove the obstacles facing investments, empowerment of the private sector, improving the business performance environment, enhancing exports and public-private partnerships as well as increasing access to finance from various windows.
