Nairobi — The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has launched a National Integrity Academy on Ngong Road.
While launching the academy, EACC Chief Executive Officer Halakhe Waqo said the anti-corruption curriculum offered will develop capacity of all sectors and the public on ethics, integrity, anti-corruption and good governance.
"This academy is another concrete milestone in the anti-corruption war since it will bolster the education mandate of the Commission. The major focus of its programme will be to develop and nurture new generation of top notch anti-corruption crusaders and experts capable of preventing and combating corruption at both personal and institutional level," said Waqo.
He further said the academy courses will be implemented by a team of highly experienced anti-corruption experts and professionals sourced both locally and internationally.
On his part, EACC Chairman Eliud Wabukala reiterated the commission's efforts in creating an environment that is hostile to the corrupt so that those who accept to hold public office operate within the law.
"As a commission, we endeavour to make corruption a very expensive venture so that who hold public office choose to either strictly operate within the dictates of law or quit public service altogether," said Wabukala.
Representing the Ministry of Education, the Permanent Secretary for Post Training and Skills Development Albert Cheruiyot said they will continue equipping officials with practical skills needed to deal with corruption.
The academy which is based at the Kenya Leadership and Integrity Forum (KLIF) Secretariat, will specialise in anti-corruption training dedicated to empower the public, public officers and non-State actors with requisite ethics and integrity knowledge.
