ENUM's definition is part of the charter of an IETF working group whose main goal is to come up with a spec to map phone numbers to fully qualifies domain names (FQNs), and it is also being integrated with SIP (the Session Initiation Protocol) which is a standard designed for conferencing, telephony, events notification and instant messaging, and other applications that require a notion of presence.
