The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned in the strongest possible terms the brutal attack and subsequent killing of two children in an apparent domestic conflict.
The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning on 2018-10-05 at Sekgakgapeng village in the Mahwelereng Policing precinct outside Mokopane where two children died after a house they were sleeping in was allegedly torched by unknown suspect/s.
It is alleged that the entire family was asleep when the unknown suspect threw what is believed to be a petrol bomb at the house which immediately caught fire.
The family of eight, aged between three (03) months and seventy (70) years old, were trapped inside.
The Police were summoned and reacted immediately and on arrival, they found a house already engulfed in flames. The fire was put down by the Fire fighters but sadly, a five (05) year-old girl died on the scene whereas a two (02) -year-old girl died on the way to hospital.
The rest of the family members, including the mother of the two deceased, were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The deceased were identified as follows:
* Kamogelo Kekana aged 05, girl.
* Sadie Kekana aged 02, girl.
The motive behind this incident is still unknown at this stage but domestic violence may not be ruled out.
Cases of two counts murder and arson were opened for further Police investigations. The suspect is still on the run.
The Police are requesting Bongani Abrahm Boshomane aged 45, to report at Mahwelereng or the nearest Police Station to assist with the ongoing investigations.
