Kenya: When 'Naughty' Odinga Debunked Old Saying on Women Being Behind Successful Men - Video

Nasa leader Raila Odinga is famous and loved by his admirers for his cheerful banters and hilarious parables which he often uses to give meaning to his political course.

But during a recent public function Mr Odinga's famous wordplay took a naughty dimension when he sought to debunk the widely accepted old saying that goes 'behind every successful man is a woman.'

The occasion, graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta, was an event at State House, Nairobi to honor and celebrate renowned Kenyan women for their great accomplishment.

Mr Odinga, whose wife Ida was conferred with the Elder of the Golden Heart during the function, was quick to critique the old saying when he was invited to the podium.

"Some people have this saying that behind a successful man is a woman... what is a woman doing behind a man? A woman is only useful infront of a man," Odinga said amid a hearty laughter from guest in attendance, including President Kenyatta.

It needed no further explanation to decode Odinga's lewd yet hilarious sentiments regarding what happens between a man and a woman behind closed doors during moments of intimacy.

But not the one to take credit for such a sexually explicit remark, Mr Odinga was smart enough to attribute it to a different speaker in another event he attended.

During the event, several women were honored for their roles in the society and for their contribution in the political arena.

Those honored were Nyiva Mwendwa, Ida Odinga, Dr Julia Ojiambo, Margaret Kenyatta (posthumously), Pamela Asiyo, Grace Onyango, Nominated Senator Beth Mugo, Justice Joyce Aluoch and Zipporah Kittony

Also honoured were Prof Wanjiku Kabira, Muthoni Likimani, Maria Nzomo, Mary Okelo, Jennifer Riria and Evangeline Muli, Dr Eddah Gachukia, Dr Jane Kiano and Lady Justice Ephy Owuor.
