Three lecturers of Shehu Idris College of Health, Makarfi in Kaduna State, who were kidnapped on Sunday, were last night released..
The release was confirmed by the administrator of the school, Yusuf Yakubu.
Yakubu said the kidnapped lecturers were realesed to him, but failed to say whether or not any ransom was paid for their realese.
"Please be informed that the three kidnapped staff of Shehu Idris College of Health Science and Technology have been released," he said in statement last night. Earlier, the Kaduna State Police Command said it had commenced investigation into the reported kidnapped .
Speaking with LEADERSHIP in Kaduna, the state police spokesman, Yakubu Sabo,did not say much about the incident.
Sabo, however, promised to get back but did not return several calls.
"I will get back to you over the incident, I said I will get back to you, " he said.
According to an online report, the victims were kidnapped on Sunday while travelling to Makarfi from Zaria.
The report explained that among the kidnapped lecturers are two women, Rabi Dogo and Halimatu Malam, and the director of the institution's dental school, identified as Dr Akawo.
It reported that Ahmed Rahama, a staff of the institution, who confirmed the incident, said the lecturers were kidnapped on Sunday evening.
"We are all not happy at all here. It is indeed a sad event.
"The department had some members of the dental association who visited the school but were lodged in a hotel in Zaria.
"We understand they travelled to Zaria where they had a brief meeting with them that Sunday. And on their way back to Makarfi, they were kidnapped.
Rahama said the kidnappers took the three lecturers in their cars and kept the director's car at a junction close to Makarfi town, adding that the police in Makarfi are in custody of the director's car.
