South Africa: Buses Set Alight As Taxi Strike Begins in Cape

The South African police have been deployed in various areas in Western Cape "to maintain law and order" during a strike by taxi drivers this morning.

Police confirmed that two buses were set alight in Khayelitsha area and another bus was stoned. No arrests have been made, but cases of public violence were opened.

Officers "remain on high alert in the area", according to a police statement.
