Wireless USB Technical Documents
Wireless USBCV Test Specification (WUSBCV), Rev. 1.0 (.pdf file format, size 476KB) This document contains a list of requirements from Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7 of the Wireless USB specification. Chapter 8 is covered in separate documents for HWA and DWA. The individual requirements are presented in a section of test assertions. Each assertion is a specific requirement that must be met by a device, host, or wire adapter per the Wireless USB specification.
Wireless USB Device Wire Adapter (DWA) Test Specification Rev. 1.0 (.pdf file format, size 424KB) This
document is the test specification for USB-IF testing of Device Wire
Adapter (DWA) products against the Wireless USB Wire Adapter Class. The Wire Adapter Class is described in Chapter 8 of the Wireless USB Specification. The requirements are presented with a series of test assertions. Each assertion is a specific requirement that must be met by a DWA per the Wireless USB specification. Device
Wire Adapters are specific implementations of Wireless USB devices, in
this respect a DWA must comply with various other test specifications.
These
Test Specifications contain test descriptions that provide specific
test algorithms and Pass/Fail criteria for some of the assertions. These documents will focus on describing device tests that can be preformed with a standard Wireless USB Host.
EVM Test Procedures for Wireless USB Products
There are three documents for the Wireless USB EVM Test Procedures. These documents are provided as a resource for EVM compliance testing. The EVM Test Procedures are required for the compliance program. Within each, the document for EVM testing outlines the test process for WUSB host and device adapters. Please determine which set of procedures meet your need based on your test equipment choice.
EVM Test Procedures for Agilent Test Equipment DSO80604B (Revision 1.0), pdf. .98MB
EVM Test Procedures for LeCroy Test Equipment SDA-11000 (Revision 1.0), pdf. 728KB Technical Brief for LeCroy External Trigger Option Test Equipment UWBTracer
EVM Test Procedures for Tektronix Test Equipment DSA72004 (Revision 1.0), pdf. 1.55MB
Test
procedures for laptops with embedded WUSB Host Wired Adapters follows
closely that of the procedure for testing external HWAs. The EVM test
procedure, Appendix A, and
PDK technical documentation outlines the steps needed to prepare a
laptop or embedded system board silicon for EVM compliance testing.
EVM
testing is required for ready-to-ship products. Informational EVM
compliance testing is first proven by testing the reference designs,
proofs of concept and one of a kind prototypes of peripherals, add-in
cards, motherboards, or systems. Although not all of the assertions are
verified with the Wireless USB EVM Test Tool and procedures, all
products are expected to perform within the test criteria outlined
within the Test Specification.
USB-IF EVM Test Tools
The
EVM Test Tool and Wireless USBCV EVM Test Suite is designed to
facilitate the EVM tests. These EVM Test Suites within Wireless USBCV
are required in conjunction with the EVM test procedures and EVM Test
Tool to perform each of the EVM Compliance Tests. The Wireless USB EVM
Test Suites are a part of the Wireless USBCV installation.
Each EVM Test Procedure includes the setup instructions to configure
an USB-IF approved EVM Testbed required for compliance testing.
Packet Error Rate Test Document for Wireless USB Products
This
document is provided as a resource for PER compliance testing. The PER
Test Procedures are required for the compliance program. The document
outlines the test process for Wireless USB host and device adapters.
PER Compliance criteria is measured in one known good orientation and up
to 3 additional orientations operating at the Wireless USB minimum
functional effective area outlined by the PER Test Procedures.
PER Test Procedures (Revision 1.0), pdf,1.3 MB
Wireless USBCV is provided with a loopback data transfer tool. These test iterations provide results for Tx, Rx, and comparison failures. Noted within this document are specific DUT characteristics or behaviors that effect PER results. Circuit,
cable length, antenna construction, along with enclosure/bezel
structural, material, and or density changes can influence wireless PER
results. External antennas are also subject to the same WUSB adapter design challenges.
PER
testing is required for ready-to-ship products. Informational
compliance testing is first proven by testing the reference designs,
proofs of concept and one of a kind prototypes of peripherals, add-in
cards, motherboards, or systems.
USB-IF PER Test Tools
The Wireless USBCV is designed to facilitate the PER tests. These
PER Test Suites within Wireless USBCV are required in conjunction with
the PER test procedures to perform each of the PER Compliance Tests. The Wireless USB PER Test Suites is a part of the Wireless USBCV installation.
The PER Test Procedure includes the setup instructions to configure an
USB-IF approved PER Testbed required for compliance testing.
