Dar es Salaam — The Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Joyce Ndalichako, is scheduled to grace the Sixth Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (Muhas) Scientific Conference 2018.
The conference, which will start on July 2 and end on July 3, will be held at the Lapf International Conference Centre in the city.
This was revealed by Muhas Vice Chancellor, Prof Andrew Pembe, when he addressed journalists at the Muhimbili National Hospital on Thursday, June 28.
"During the event, we will disseminate some crucial information related to our recent evidence-based research findings and their impacts to country's social and economic growth," he said.
According to him, the conference will bring together at least 400 participants from Rwanda, the United Kingdom, Japan, Turkey, Italy and the US, mainly researchers, medical practitioners and other health professionals, locals and internationals.
He further revealed that, at least 164 scientific research topics will be presented through oral presentations, in the field of reproductive health, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Infectious Diseases, to mention a few.
The participants, who are working in various areas of health, will have an opportunity to engage and share their research findings with other stakeholders, confirmed Prof Pembe.
"The aim is to make sure that the evidence-based research findings are incorporated in national health policy with a view to addressing the common challenges facing the health sector," he said.
He added "Utilization of health science based research findings is vital to achieve industrialization drive, due to the fact that the findings offer the best solutions to address challenges facing health sector and other key sectors."
This year's conference is under the theme "Promoting Industrialisation through Health Research in Low Income Countries," that emphasizes on importance of using the health science based research findings to achieve Tanzania's industrialisation drive.
