You celebrate, They emulate

Fans around the world typically tune in to watch their favorite United stars celebrate, but in November 2016, we ensured that the Red Devils viewed your celebrations. Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Jesse Lingard were among the players who took over twitter, and answered the fans questions on the topic of celebrations, as well as emulated the best celebratory poses sent in from around the world. Fans received a priceless memento featuring them side by side with their favorite stars.

We promised the Red Devils a unified fan experience, bringing fans around the world closer to their team through the power of digital.

We decided to crowdsource the first ever co-created tweet, uniting fans and players. Fans were invited to tweet us any character – a letter, number or symbol along with a story of why they feel the character deserved to be included. The best entries as chosen by United stars Michael Carrick and Daley Blind went into this tweet and received personal responses over twitter.

What’s more the co-created tweet was placed at Old Trafford alongside the twitter handles of the fans, giving them a permanent place at Old Trafford.

We gave young aspiring professionals the opportunity to intern with us and be a part of Manchester United’s digital transformation journey. Over 22,000 candidates competed over 6 months for a one of a kind digital marketing internship at Old Trafford. The race to get to Old Trafford for five finalists culminated in a finale aired on MTV India.

What’s more the winner got the chance to attend a match at Old Trafford and cheered on the team at Wembley as United lifted the F.A Cup.

Pitch Day with Prince’s trust

We partnered with Prince’s Trust and organized a half day mentoring workshop for 60 at-risk school going youth at Old Trafford. They heard inspiring stories from Quinton Fortune and engaged in team building activities mentored by corporate and community leaders.

What’s more, they got the chance to step onto the Old Trafford pitch as they received expert training from the coaches at Manchester United soccer schools and squared off in a tournament to live commentary by the voice of Old Trafford, Alan Keegan.

HCL & Manchester United Soccer Schools

From Sydney to London to Los Angeles, HCL has been taking the relationship beyond the contract with our customers, by bringing the expert coaches from Manchester United Soccer Schools to conduct soccer clinics. Parents and children from our customer organizations around the world receive a great experience under the tutelage of the MUSS coaches alongside a host of engaging activities. Trained by the finest, the kids takeaway priceless lessons on the benefits of healthy involvement in sporting activities.

TeamsWork

TeamsWork was an application co-created by HCL, LinkedIn and Manchester United. The application aims to become the ultimate destination to build a global dream team, and provide each member on the team immediate and genuine appreciation. The app received excellent feedback from Manchester United fans and from business leaders, citing this as an amazing tool to motivate team members and peers.

#ILoveUnited at Rio

HCL jointly with Chevrolet and Adidas, helped local children in Rio receive special coaching sessions from the coaches at Manchester United Soccer schools, when United visited Brazil as part of the #ILOVEUNITED initiative. Dwight Yorke and Quinton fortune coached and played games with the local community on a pitch developed in association with Street Child United, to give local children a safe place to play.

We then selected three of the most promising players from the coaching clinic to represent us in the 3v3 football tournament held at Copacabana beach, with a chance to visit Old Trafford.
