Typescript is awesome but it's years later than it should've been! The irony with TypeScript is that MS killed ECMAScript 4 which proposed nearly all of this stuff back in '06. Adobe went ahead and implemented ES4 into ActionScript 3 which is a brilliant language targeted at the Flash platform. Now TypeScript is identical to AS3 but for JS which is something Adobe never delivered.

I am really enjoying using TypeScript. Its a big improvement over "plain" JavaScript.

TypeScript is really, really promising. It's still alpha, it's still missing some very important features (like generics), the tooling is only so-so, and the community support for it is (obviously) just getting started. But still. Still. TypeScript is already worlds ahead of JavaScript. I can't wait to see where it goes.

The spec itself is conceptually awesome. It respects JavaScript for what it is and the additions almost all come from ES6 proposals. Will be interesting to see how this alignment continues.
The tooling isn't quite there yet in Visual Studio - the web playground auto-complete seems more robust right now.
Is VSDoc in TypeScript coming? Triple forward slash auto-complete please!

Just what the Doctor ordered. Thanks guys for this brilliant framework. It makes working in Javascipt now more fun and sane. Converting a project here to TypeScript is exposing all sorts of bugs and design flaws. Keep improving on this.

#mhr you need to see a shrink. I'm unrelated to MS in any way, this is an excellent library. It's getting five stars so quickly because it makes JS coding so much easier, is well written, tries to stick with ECMAscript standards, has ggod tooling after only a few weeks. I'll stop there.

The Idea behind the project is very good, and the project looks very promising. But at its current state it has many bugs and resulting javascript is far from being optimized.
It needs more time to become more mature.

Well I like the idea of types, classes and modules, really well done by MS. Only problem is that TypseScript can not get popular by linux developers as there's no good development environment. Please try to add the eclipse or some other IDE support and this might be the next big thing in JS world.

After a brief test, I started using this in production. I love strong types and intellisense support. JS is kinda fun again. There are many missing features, but don't think of this project in terms of missing syntax or bugs in the compiler (say some people, I found just one so far) - it's a better javascript for free.

I think this is exactly what the JavaScript community needs. Other compile-to-js languages force you to learn new syntax and interoperate poorly with existing JS frameworks and technologies. TypeScript's "extend the language" approach gives us just enough flexibility for large JS apps without introducing unnecessary complexity. Looking forward to seeing what will come out of this!

#mhr Actually if you happen to come from a typed language of types subset of JavaScript (like Closure tools) the language seems very very very good! It has many advantages over vanilla and yes, it has bugs, but you know what - every software has it and besides it is in alpha. People rate 5 because they like it, not because it is coming from Microsoft.

Since your created the account for this purpose only you seem to be the guy stock in the past or working on CoffeeScirpt or Dart maybe ... but I doubt it.
Join the discussion. I guess you don't have very much luck in this world.
I love ts, because of the tooling is so much better in VS2012. Its alpha so its only going to be better.
My review is 5, because its so usable in this stage.

Aligning with ECMAScript 6 is just the right move, and the syntax sugar, the ease of use, the smart move of supporting standart ECMAScript and writing the actual compiler on top of itself, brilliant! Nailed it.
No need to create entire new languages like Dart and Coffee, all we need was some sugar and this handy, "strongly" typed way of doing OOP.

Great addition to Javascript! I am hoping for more: overloading methods and operators, macros, etc... extensibility of the parser, compiler,etc....

Takes the hassle out of writing javascript without getting in your way. Support in VS2012 is good(intellisense and such), although I am having little trouble to get typescript files to appear in my Add new... dialog. But I am sure this will get fixed in the very next release.

This is a great new take on the JavaScript problem - the first that doesn't assume that JavaScript is a problem in the first place. It just adds some syntactic sugar that makes the development experience more productive.

Opera does not support ClickOnce X
To install this application, save it and then open it. Opening it directly from Opera will not work correctly.
