Macklemore, born Ben
Haggerty on June 19, 1983, released music
independently (at one time referring to himself
as 'Professor Macklemore') since the early 2000s
before finding success when joining forces with
producer Ryan Lewis. EPs and LPs Macklemore have
recorded over the decade include Open Your
Eyes (2000), The
Language Of My World (2005), The
Unplanned Mixtape (2009), and VS.
Redux
(2010 with Ryan Lewis). Macklemore has been very
public about his addition to pain killers in the
mid-2000s and his success with recovery in 2008.
Macklemore is also very supportive and vocal
about gay rights. Lewis originally associated
with Macklemore as a photographer before
collaborating together.
