ASMLib is a library addon for the Automatic Storage Manager of Oracle Database 10g. This is the kernel driver for a generic Linux implementation of ASMLib.

ASMLib is a support library for the Automatic Storage Management feature
of Oracle Database 10g. Automatic Storage Management (ASM) simplifies
database administration. It eliminates the need for the DBA to directly
manage potentially thousands of Oracle database files, requiring only
the management of groups of disks allocated to the Oracle Database.
ASMLib allows an Oracle Database using ASM more efficient and capable
access to the disk groups it is using.
Note to Oracle Customers
To be supported under your Oracle support contract, you must only use
the packages supplied via the
Unbreakable Linux Network or the
ASMLib page on
the Oracle Technology Network.
You can find binary packages for your Linux distribution there, as well
as the userspace ASMLib component.
The ASMLib kernel driver is released under the GNU General Public
License (GPL). Oracle will only formally support the binary RPMs
compiled by Oracle and downloadable from ULN or the OTN ASMLib page.
The source code for the kernel driver is provided here for reference
and compliance. Self-compiled drivers are unsupported. Use at your
own risk. ASMLib library and kernel driver product support is only
available to customers that already have an Oracle support license.
