MOSCOW, September 17. /ITAR-TASS/.Russian Helicopters (an affiliate of the arms manufacturer Oboronprom, which is part of the Rostec corporation) will present four selections at the Africa Aerospace and Defence 2014 show in South Africa, the holding company’s press-service said in a news release.
The show to be held in Pretoria on September 17 through 21 is Africa’s largest exhibition of ground, naval and air and space technologies.
“Russian Helicopters specialists in cooperation with their colleagues from the Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport will present the unique features of military transport helicopters Mi-171SH and Mi0-17V5, transport and combat helicopter Mi-35M and training helicopter Ansat-U,” the news release says.
Also, the company will demonstrate to participants and guests Mi-8/17 and Ka-32A11VS commercial helicopters and its latest product - Mi-171A2.
The holding company’s CEO, Aleksandr Mikheyev, has told the media the overall fleet of Russian-made helicopters in Africa exceeded 770 pieces.
Russia’s Mi-171 and Mi-172 helicopters on offer to African clients are meant for cargo and passenger traffic and also for VIP flights.
“For the army and police we shall present the Ansat helicopter and its training configuration Ansat-U. It can carry cargoes and passengers, or be used as a police helicopter, an ambulance and for surveillance and search and rescue operations,” the Russian Helicopters press-service said.
Agencies involved in efforts to deal with emergencies and their effects and rescue operations will be offered the multi-purpose helicopter Ka-32A11VS. It has a variety of capabilities to deal with fires, man-made disasters, natural calamities, and do building and assembly work in rigorous conditions.
