What is Random Acts of Makeup?

Random Acts of Makeup is a place for all makeup lovers to go. There are makeup discussions, contests, and just general chit chat with some glamming thrown in there.

What is 'glamming'?

Glamming is where you do a 'random act of kindness' but with makeup! You just choose a user you'd like to buy something for on your own or maybe give the random wishlist button a try. You just choose something from their wishlist, add it to your cart and check out! Be sure to choose their address as the shipping address when that page comes up. How do I find the wishlist for the person I want to glam?

Anywhere someone posts on Random Acts of Makeup, they should have something next to their name that looks like some version of this. Just copy the link next to their name and visit that link. This should be their wishlist.

I'm looking everywhere and no one has a link next to their name! Help?

If you are using RES, you may have it set not to show flair which would make everyone's wishlist not show. To change this, go to the top right corner of reddit next to your name and inbox and click 'preferences' and then scroll down until you see 'display options', Make sure the bottom two boxes that say 'show user flair' and 'show link flair' are checked and hit save. This should solve the problem.

What do I do after I have glammed someone?

After you have gotten something for someone off of their wishlist, please take a screenshot of the confirmation page. Edit the person's last name out of screenshot if there is one and then upload the screenshot to imgur. Copy the second link option that imgur gives you on the right hand side. Come back to RAoM and make a new post with the screenshot as the link. Be sure to tag your post with the "Glammed" flair which you can read more about here.

Can I glam someone by buying something in stores and personally mailing it to them?

Yes, this is allowed but you will have to message the user you are wanting to glam to get their address and be sure that they are okay with it.

How do I make a wishlist?

Please visit this page on Amazon and it should cover everything you need to know. Please only add beauty related items to your wishlist. This can be makeup, nail polish, hair products, etc.

Is that really all I need to do?!

There is ONE more thing you need to check. Once you have made your Amazon wishlist, go to that wishlist and follow the steps in this tutorial to make sure your address is linked to your wish list. If you do not do these steps, people will not be able to gift you so it's very important.

How do I set my wishlist link as my flair?

Is Amazon the only place I can have a wishlist?

No, you can also make a wishlist on eBay but it's a little different. You can have an Amazon AND eBay wishlist or just an Amazon or just an eBay wishlist. Please see our eBay Wishlist Guide for more info if you're interested in making an eBay wishlist.

How come some people have little numbers and lips in their flair? Where can I get those?

Why isn't anyone glamming me?

Please try to remember that RAoM is not just about glamming and that we can't make anyone glam someone. You are more likely to get someone's attention if you are an active member of the community and put effort into being involved in discussions, contests, and getting to know other members.

Why am I being downvoted?

We cannot control downvotes. The downvote button has been removed from RAoM and that's all we can do to try and bring down the amount of downvotes. Please do not make posts or comments about downvotes, it will be removed. Also, please do not message any of the moderators asking them because we cannot tell you why or control it. We're sorry if you're being downvoted but try not to let it bother you.

Why isn't my post showing up?

If you just submitted a post and it's not showing up under the 'new' tab then it probably got caught in the spam filter. Please message the moderators and one of the moderators will get it out of the spam filter for you as soon as they see your message.

What do I do if someone on RAoM or the tinychat breaks the rules and a mod isn't around?

Please message the moderators immediately. If it's on tinychat, please take a screenshot if you can and send us that as well.

What do I do if someone on RAoM or the tinychat is rude to me or makes me really uncomfortable?

Just like the last question, please message the moderators immediately. If it's on tinychat, please take a screenshot if you can and send us that as well. We like to do the best we can to make everyone comfortable and take these things seriously.

I really just have a funny feeling about someone here that may be scamming or something similar, what do I do?

We take things like that VERY seriously. If you suspect or know something is fishy about someone, message the moderators with your concerns. All names always remain anonymous and no one will know you messaged us. Even if you are wrong, it's better to be safe than sorry. We try our best to protect everyone here from scammers.
