David Beckham’s new tattoo includes image of him as Jesus?

You can hardly see it from these photos, but David Beckham got inked up again and his latest tattoo has raised some eyebrows.

According to the Daily Mail, the new tattoo, which covers the right side of his chest, is reportedly said to be a “portrait of Jesus — styled to look like Beckham — being lifted from his tomb by three cherubs, representing his much-loved boys.”

We don’t even know what to say about this one. Getting tattoos to honor his family is nothing new for the retired soccer superstar, but honoring himself?

“I don’t regret any of them,” Beckham once told CNN of his thirty plus tattoos. “They all have meaning. I think that’s what’s important about tattoos. If they have a meaning, you’ll never regret them.”

We’re sure there’s meaning in Becks’ latest ink, too. If anyone can get away with tattoos of themselves as Jesus, it’s Beckham.

David Beckham trains with LA Galaxy, shows potential

It looks like global icon David Beckham decided to go kick around with the LA Galaxy — not like he has much to do these days. The now-retired 38-year-old returned to Los Angeles and trained with the team on Wednesday.

Galaxy coach Bruce Arena joked with the media after training when asked about Beckham, saying:

"On trial. He’s on trial," Arena said. "He’s got to work on his crossing, on his passing a little bit. If he can get better in those areas, we would consider signing him."

Touché, Bruce. The lad looks like he’s got some potential!

Messi, Maradona, Cruyff and Beckham all on the same team? It’s true… sort of

image

Image from Daily Star

This season, fans in England have the opportunity of a lifetime: you can watch Diego Maradona, David Beckham, Franz Beckenbauer and Roberto Carlos, among others, all come out of retirement to team up with Lionel Messi and form the most star-studded roster ever assembled. Even better, they’re all playing under the legendary coaching pair of Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho.

A terrible joke? No!

Well, not really.

Sixth-tier side Farnborough, in partnership with their new club sponsors and betting outfit Paddy Power, has changed all of their players’ and coaches’ names to that of a legendary football icon, a world football first.

So no, it won’t be Maradona taking orders from the great Sir Alex. Rather, it’ll really be David Tarpey listening to Simon Gardener’s X’s and O’s. On paper, however, Farnborough should strike fear into every opponent. At least until they take the pitch.

The only question we have: would Farnborough’s “all-star” squad be able to beat a team comprised of Michael Jackson, John Lennon and Mahatma Gandhi? (Yes, that really is a thing, too)

David Beckham Interviews, well, David Beckham

image

By: Maxi Rodriguez

Based on a series of recent advertising campaigns, it seems that David Beckham just can’t get enough of himself.

Following the same theme as his last advertisement, in which Becks cloned himself for a British television commercial, Becks recently sat down to interview, well, himself, in support of a new fragrance entitled Classic by David Beckham.

Thankfully, Beckham didn’t toss himself softballs, but went with hard-hitting questions in the best spirit of Edward R. Murrow. Among the selection were such interrogatory question as:

  • How do you choose what haircut to get?
  • How important is grooming to you?
  • Do you consider yourself good-looking?

Does he consider himself good-looking?! Don’t fall for the trap Becks! Leading question! FIFTH AMENDMENT! FIFTH AMENDMENT!

Sorry. I got carried away there for a second.

In truth, we’re big fans of David Beckham, but this is all getting a bit too meta for us; speaking in the third person isn’t all that endearing. That said, it could be worse: it might not be long until we see an awkward Russian doll scenario where David Beckham suits up for the Miami David Beckhams with a plush David Beckham cheering him on from the sideline.

I think I feel a migraine coming on. Let’s act like this never happened.

Beckham Clones Take Over Advertisement for British Television

It’s a known fact that having David Beckham as your company’s spokesperson is a surefire way to gain attention, but British television network Sky Sports might be taking that a bit too seriously.

In a recent ad for the network, multiple versions of Beckham appear, working through a variety of daily errands side-by-side. We don’t know about you, but what we’re left wondering is whether one of the clones might consider coming out of retirement.

It wasn’t so long ago - two months in fact - that David Beckham hung up his boots following an illustrious playing career in England, Spain, the United States, Italy and France.

In a creative and touching tribute to the former Manchester United and Real Madird star, Japanese animators Mori Pictures provide Beckham’s best moments in Lego form. The video even revisits Beckham’s crucial points in his career from his red card in the 1998 World Cup to his emotional goodbye farewell with PSG earlier this year.

Sit back, relax and enjoy Beckham’s greatest hits and misses.

Seven injured in stampede as Chinese rush to see David Beckham

When you’re David Beckham, you’re used to getting the Justin Bieber treatment. Still, this is a bit surreal.

In Becks’ latest visit to China as Football Ambassador, an appearance at the Shanghai Tongji University turned into a bloody mess, quite literally. Hundreds of people swarmed to get a glimpse of the retired superstar as he exited his car and made his way onto the pitch, causing a stampede that resulted in seven injuries. Several security guards were trampled and had to be hospitalized, visibly bloodied. Fortunately for our soccer hero, Beckham wasn’t harmed.

David Beckham cheats against little kids in China

David Beckham is “beck” in China to resume his role as Global Football Ambassador, and as was the case last time, another great video has hit the web from his visits. Beckham’s age got exposed in a little pick-up scrimmage, so Becks had to resort to a little gamesmanship.

That video’s cute, but who can forget this classic from Beckham’s last trip to the Far East?

Beckham offered trial to be kicker in NFL

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, while he was still with the LA Galaxy, David Beckham received a formal offer to try out as a kicker for an NFL team.

A source told the newspaper:

"A couple of scouts felt that David has the potential to become a kicker in the NFL team, and one actually put a call into him for a trial. It was obvious too that if Becks took up the offer then any NFL franchise would be interested as his international appeal would generate billions in PR and commercial opportunities.”

While a few teams inquired about his services, only one (unidentified) team sent over an official offer.

Needless to say, Beckham politely turned down the offer and decided to take his talents to France, playing the final season of his career with Paris Saint-Germain.

LeBron James meets David Beckham courtside

image

These two could be seeing a lot more of each other.

The newly retired David Beckham is in Miami and is working on a new sports venture: owning a professional soccer team.

After meeting with Miami’s mayor Carlos Gimenez on Saturday, Beckham toured both Sun Life Stadium and Florida International University’s stadium in the effort to find a home for a potential Miami MLS team.

Mayor Gimenez:

"We’re ready and we’re excited about the possibility of having top-flight professional soccer back in Miami. With people from all over the world living in our community, this is an ideal market for MLS and David Beckham is the right person to make it happen."

After a weekend of hard work in South Florida, Becks was able to kick back and watch LeBron James and the Miami Heat dominate the Indiana Pacers for a Game 7 win and a third straight trip to the NBA Finals.

Let’s hope that Beckham does indeed secure an MLS team in Miami and decides to hang out with LeBron on the regular.

This is just too much star power to pass up.
