Sincere thanks to the San Jose Unified community!
To Our Community:
On Tuesday, November 6th the San Jose Unified community came out in force to show their support for our local public schools. Measure H, the local bond to support technology and facilities in our schools, passed with nearly 71% of voters approving of the additional support to schools. Virtually every precinct approved of the measure.
In addition, Proposition 30, the statewide measure that will temporarily raise taxes to support public schools, was also passed with 54% of voters statewide giving there approval.
This election, perhaps, was one of the single largest opportunities for the voters of our community to influence the funding for San Jose Unified. We are humbled and excited that the voters of this community showed such strong support and unwavering commitment to our local schools. We are truly thankful for this continued support and confidence that you have in this institution.
Framed by the new strategic plan, Opportunity21, the staff of San Jose Unified will continue its focused efforts on improving the quality of instruction of the classroom but also ensuring that we have the highest quality staff that are not only teaching but also supporting every student to receive the finest 21st education.
Thank you again for your continued support and confidence.
Sincerely,
Dr. Vincent Matthews
Superintendent
San Jose Unified School District
