Prostaglandin receptor

There are currently ten known prostaglandin receptors on various cell types. Prostaglandins bind to a subfamily of cell surface seven-transmembrane receptors, G-protein-coupled receptors.

These receptors are named:

• DP_1-2 - DP₁, DP₂ receptors
• EP_1-4 - EP₁, EP₂, EP₃, EP₄ receptors
• FP - FP
• IP_1-2 - IP₁, IP₂ receptors
• TP - TP receptor

The names of these receptors correspond to the prostaglandin that they bind (e.g., DP_1-2 receptors bind to PGD2).
