WAY-161503 is a full agonist at the serotonin 5-HT2B and 5-HT2C receptors. Administration of WAY-161503 decreased food intake in rats, an effect mediated by its action on the 5-HT2C receptors. In addition, there was no development of tolerance with up to 15 days of treatment. However, clinical utility of WAY-161,503 may be limited as activation of the 5-HT2B receptor has been linked to pulmonary hypertension and cardiac valve problems.[1]
